Registration Forms
Please use the following
definitions when completing your entry form.
- Bed Quilt: Total
circumference* is larger than 240 inches.
Quilt intended for use on a bed.
- Large Wall Hanging: Total
circumference* no larger than 240 inches.
Quilt intended for display on a wall.
- Small Wall Hanging: Total
circumference* is no larger than 120 inches.
Quilt intended for display on a wall.
- Miniature: Maximum width 24
inches; maximum length 24 inches.
A miniature quilt is by definition the miniaturization (reduced or scaled
down) design of a full size bet quilt. By accurately reducing the size of
the quilt blocks and components, the quilter produces an exact replica of a
full size quilt.
- Legacy: A quilt top that is 50 years and older that was
recently completed by a quilter who was not the original maker of the quilt top.
- Crib/Baby Quilt: A crib sized
quilt or smaller made for a baby or toddler.
- Clothing/Wearable Art:
Quilted items designed and made to be worn.
- Pieced: Piecing predominates over other techniques in amount
or effect.
- Appliqué: Appliqué predominates over other techniques in
amount or effect.
- Mixed: A quilt featuring two
or more predominant techniques not including quilting (i.e. embroidery,
appliqué, beading, photo transfer, textile painting, etc.)
- Other: A quilt where one special technique is used to develop
the design of the top such as whole cloth, surface design, crazy quilt, cathedral window, embroidered, etc.
- First Quilt: A first quilt
made by someone age 18 and over, the majority of which has been made by one
individual using any technique.
- Art Quilts: A quilt of any
size, shape, or technique that doesn't fall within one of the other listed
categories is acceptable. An art quilt is the work of one quilt artist and
must consist of the basic fabric sandwich (top, batting and backing).
Originality, creativity, and innovation MUST be showcased in the piece. The
piece must contain some hand or machine quilting. The quilt maker may use a
variety of techniques as long as the fabric and quilting form the basis of
the piece.
